Awarenessinfohub has gathered that a shocking incident has rocked the community of Gauza village in Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Nigeria, as a newlywed wife was arrested by the police for allegedly killing her husband with rat poison. The incident occurred on Friday, January 23, 2026, and has sent shockwaves through the community.
According to reports, the deceased, whose name has not been disclosed, fell ill after having lunch at their residence in Gauza village. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead while receiving medical treatment. The police spokesperson, Shiisu Lawan Adam, revealed that the wife, also unnamed, was arrested and confessed to putting rat poison in her husband's food.
The police investigation revealed that the suspect had been forced into the marriage by her parents, which she claimed led to her actions. The suspect allegedly stated that she sent her cousin to purchase the rat poison used in the crime.
