Awareness.com.ng has gathered that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a three-day period of sunshine and hazy weather conditions across Nigeria, starting from Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

According to the agency's weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, the northern region is expected to experience sunny and hazy skies throughout the forecast period.

In contrast, the southern region is predicted to record sunny skies with patches of clouds, alongside chances of isolated thunderstorms accompanied by light rainfall over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later in the day. The agency's forecast indicates that the weather conditions are expected to prevail from Wednesday to Friday.

Thunderstorms with light rainfall are expected in the morning over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states.

Friday's Forecast

Friday is expected to see sunny and hazy skies over the northern region in the morning, with dust haze expected during the afternoon and evening hours. The central region will experience sunny and hazy conditions, while the southern region will have cloudy skies with sunny intervals in the morning, alongside chances of isolated thunderstorms and light rainfall over parts of Anambra, Imo, Abia, Edo, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, and Rivers states.
