Awareness.com.ng has gathered that in a bold and uncompromising statement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, national leader of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), has declared that he has no "price tag" and cannot be bought in politics.
The former governor of Kano State made this declaration while reflecting on recent political developments, loyalty, betrayal, and the state of politics in Kano.
Kwankwaso's remarks come against the backdrop of widespread dissatisfaction with governance and insecurity in Nigeria. He warned that betrayal often provoked public resentment, especially in a climate of economic hardship and discontent. "Life is like that; one loses, another gets. Of course, he entered a system that has no exit point," Kwankwaso said, underscoring the cutthroat nature of politics.
In a clear rebuke to those who believe that every politician has a price, Kwankwaso asserted that Kano politics is different from elsewhere. He noted that voters in the state are politically conscious and not easily swayed by inducements. "Kano politics in Nigeria is different. If not in Kano, where is it that one will meet you with a money bag and go into a meeting with you that they will give you things?" he asked.
Kwankwaso's declaration has sent shockwaves through Nigeria's political landscape. "People used to say in Nigeria that everyone has a price tag. If you are looking for who has no price tag, come to Rabiu Kwankwaso," he said, emphasizing his commitment to principles over personal gain.
The NNPP leader urged politicians and voters to eschew short-term inducements during elections, warning that leadership founded on inducement and betrayal could not deliver meaningful development.
"You will spend four years suffering, and one day they will come and give you peanuts, and then you spend another four years," Kwankwaso said, highlighting the dangers of prioritizing personal interests over the public good.
