Awarenessinfohub has gathered that the Federal Government of Nigeria has engaged the services of a US-based lobbying firm, DCI Group, in a $9 million contract aimed at communicating its efforts to protect Christian communities in the country to the United States government.
According to documents filed with the US Department of Justice, Aster Legal, a Kaduna-based law firm, hired DCI Group on behalf of Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser, to assist in conveying Nigeria's actions against jihadist groups and other destabilizing elements to the US government.
The contract, signed on December 17, 2025, stipulates that DCI Group will work with Aster Legal to highlight Nigeria's efforts to protect Christian communities and maintain US support in countering West African jihadist groups.
The agreement is for six months, renewable for another six months, with a termination clause allowing either party to end the contract with 60 days' written notice.
Nigeria paid DCI Group $4.5 million as a six-month retainer pre-payment on December 12, with a monthly retainer fee of $750,000. The contract's fee and expenses section outlines the payment schedule, with the first installment due upon execution and the second upon expiration of six months.
This move comes amid heightened interest from the US government in reports of Christian killings in Nigeria. In October, the US redesignated Nigeria as a 'country of particular concern' over allegations of Christian genocide, a claim Nigeria has repeatedly denied.
The US has been actively engaging with Nigeria on security issues, with President Donald Trump threatening military action against terrorists killing Christians in November. The US also launched air strikes against terrorist enclaves in Sokoto state on Christmas Day.
