Flying Eagles Of Nigeria Progress To The Knock Out Stage Of U-20 World Cup

Awarenessinfohub has gathered that the Flying Eagles of Nigeria have qualified for the knockout stages of the ongoing U-20 World Cup in Chile.

The team advanced to the round of 16 after a dramatic 1-1 draw against Colombia in their final Group F game, which took place in the early hours of Monday.

Another late penalty from captain Daniel Bameyi ensured the Flying Eagles a vital point that sent them finishing third in the group.

The team ranked as one of the best third-placed teams in the competition and progressed out of the group stages.

Despite dominating the early minutes of the match against Colombia, Nigeria conceded the first goal. Six minutes into the second half, Kener González scored with a sharp finish following a quick Colombian counter-attack.

The Eagles struggled to find the finishing touches to their responses as the team squandered chances or was thwarted by Jordan García, the Colombian goalkeeper.

However, in the 86th minute, Bameyi was given a precious opportunity to drag Nigeria level from the spot, and the captain made no mistake.

Nigeria will face Argentina in their second round fixture on Wednesday.

In the previous edition, Nigeria knocked out Argentina in the round of 16 before eventually losing to South Korea in the quarter-final.
